She didn't tell them what I had. My classmates told their parents and they tried to tell their children what a disease was, remember this is 1965. Because my teacher didn't tell them I had diabetes, my class ignored me for some time. <br /><br />I know having juvenile onset (type 1) diabetes is a disease. I just never say I have one. To me a disease is something that is a horrible illness that one cannot overcome or control.
